Fresh power failure leads to delays for Virgin Blue passengersA power failure led to delays for Virgin Blue passengers Sunday morning.

Virgin Blue passengers faced delays Sunday morning as the airline was hit by its second computer glitch in a week. The airline revealed Sunday morning: “Due to a power outage at our data centre this morning, some systems had been affected. We are back online and systems are running normally.”

The flow-on effect has led to delays to upcoming flights, mostly of between one and two hours.

Passenger Christine Makepeace, who was meant to be flying from Melbourne to Hobart at noon, was delayed with her 88-year-old mother Thelma.

“I’m a regular customer but not for much longer because this is the second time,” she revealed to the Herald Sun. “This happened last week as well.”

Sunday morning’s delay comes after Virgin Blue passengers were delayed in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart and Brisbane on Wednesday afternoon when the airline’s reservations and baggage system also crashed.
